Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis
The Finance Department supports the product, people, promotion, place, and profit strategies of the company by providing centralized delivery of all financial services. Internally, Finance provides financial services to all divisions of the company. Externally, Finance provides financial information and reporting to the parent company, Berkshire Hathaway as well as state and federal regulatory agencies. The Finance Department is divided into six areas: (1) General Accounting, which includes financial reporting, fixed assets, financial system integration, cash management, inventory control, merchandise and expense payables, operations audit travel processing, and tax reporting, (2) Planning and Analysis, which includes annual budgeting and forecasting, (3) Payroll, which includes all payroll and bonus processing and payroll tax reporting, (4) Supply Chain, which negotiates and maintains vendor contracts, and manages (non-merchandise) purchasing, (5) Loss Prevention, which handles all property, casualty and liability insurance programs and serves as the risk management and legal liaison for the company, and (6) Information Security, which maintains compliance with regulatory frameworks, ensuring protection of Helzberg digital assets.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Helzberg will be providing Financial Planning and Analysis Shared Services to Ben Bridge Jewelers; a 30 – 40 chain of jewelry stores. This position will develop, plan, and execute the annual budget and financial forecast process for Ben Bridge Jewelers to produce a high-quality business plan and projections that communicate company goals/expectations and performance to internal and external users. Provide analysis, both past results and future projections that could have a significant fiscal impact on financials.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Develop the annual plan (P&L, Balance Sheet & Cash Flow) in conjunction with the internal stakeholder organizations and Strategy. The process includes target setting, gathering input from internal stakeholders, executive review, and final approval.
- Complete financial analysis to support operating departments and management in reviewing the results of operations and various programs. Assist internal stakeholders in reviewing and researching monthly budget variances and preparing accurate forecasts.
- Complete P&L forecast quarterly and share with internal stakeholders and executives.
- Closely track cashflow performance for potential issues/concerns.
- Develop a three-year forecast (mid-year) in conjunction with the internal stakeholder organizations and Strategy.
- Provide financial analysis for proposed projects to provide estimates of resulting project impacts (short & long term) for the decision makers.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent does not have any direct reports.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance.
- Five to ten years of experience in an FP&A function.
- Prior experience in a retail environment is a plus.
- Detailed knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications including extensive Excel modeling and PowerPoint presentation development.
- Previous experience with planning systems (Oracle a plus), business case modeling, and relational databases (Tableau, and Snowflake a plus).
- Excellent interpersonal qualities: ability to collaborate effectively using a broad range of influence styles to drive desired results; works well with others and a true collaborator.
- Project management, process, and organizational skills; able to effectively juggle multiple projects/assignments at one time and deliver high-quality results in timely fashion.
- Proactive work style and ability to work independently and manage cross-functional activities with limited oversight; comfortable working in and bringing structure to ambiguous environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to present complex information in a manner understandable to the intended audience.
- Hybrid schedule with predictable onsite attendance required three or more days per week to perform essential functions involving interactive behaviors with co-workers and managers, operation or manipulation of equipment and/or materials located only on site, and direct interaction with internal and/or external customers.
TRAVEL:
- Travel to Ben Bridge headquarters in Seattle on an as-needed basis; 10% - 15%
