POSITION SUMMARY:
The DVP of Store Operations ensures effective management of store operations through Regional Managers by providing the
guidance and leadership necessary to achieve divisional sales and profit objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analysis & Planning
  • Develop and execute sales and profit strategies for a division and provide high-level direction to Regional Managers.
  • Perform store visits to assess the attainment of store goals, recognize superior performing store associates, assess associate morale and performance levels, review the status of program implementation and gather data to identify emerging retail trends.
  • Analyze division sales, payroll, and controllable expense performance and take appropriate actions to achieve or surpass the annual business plan.
  • Develop annual sales and payroll budgets and other expense line items and communicate goals to Regional Managers.
Staffing
  • Analyze division’s short- and long-term staffing issues and align recruiting and training efforts to ensure talented, qualified associates are hired and trained properly for the current business year and future years.
Performance Management & Development
  • Provide and reinforce an environment that is conducive to all managers developing comprehensive business skills. Coach and develop Regional and District Managers specifically and other associate who may seek advice and counsel on their job performance or career opportunities.
  • Complete Regional Managers’ performance appraisals that include current year performance discussion, setting the next year’s goals, and identifying developmental opportunities.
  • Actively monitor and address the performance of store managers and associates as needed.
Strategic Implementation
  • Actively participate in the development of all strategic initiatives and take a leadership role in the development and implementation of short and long-term strategies that impact the business.
  • Lead cross functional projects as needed.
Program Development and Implementation
  • Actively partner with the Store Support Center departments to consistently implement specific programs in the division such as SMDP, new store marketing strategies, time and attendance, performance appraisal processes, and merchandise initiatives such as product sales guidelines, guarantees, return policies, etc.
  • Participate in the development of store operations training. Assist in the training, skill evaluation, coaching and development of store associates during store visits. Periodically visit region meetings and assist Regional Managers with facilitation and coaching.
  • Be an effective communication link between the Store Support Center and the store associates by utilizing the combination of Store Support Center exposure and field experience to positively and proactively interact and influence both the Store Support Center and stores.
  • Maintain current knowledge about products, marketing programs, and human resource initiatives and communicate this information throughout the division.
  • Champion and implement projects and tactics associated with all transformational innovation initiatives.
Procedural Compliance
  • Promote a professional work environment of ethical behavior and integrity by supporting the Mission Statement in every decision and every interaction and upholding the company’s Code of Ethics. Review policy compliance (i.e., Loss Prevention, Human Resources, & Financial) and take the opportunity to educate or correct any situations discovered during store visits.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or retail management and 7 years of progressive retail store leadership, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Multi-store management experience and/or Helzberg MDP graduate preferred.
  • Must be willing to relocate to the Kansas City area (relocation assistance available).
  • Availability to travel extensively, including overnight stays.
  • Regular, onsite attendance is required to perform essential functions involving successfully interacting with internal and external team members.
